What is Air Pruning?
Whenever a root reaches the pot wall, it is directed towards a hole and the root tip dries out. This induces the root to grow side branches. Instead of pot-bound, circling roots the tree develops a healthy and fibrous root system.
What are the effects?

The knobs serve as solid anchor points for bending branches and trunks. For a more predicse quicker and easier use of guy wires.
